Dive clean-up event at Laem Thian, Koh Tao
Coral Grand Divers, Koh Tao's premier dive center, and PADI Project AWARE Team up to protect the ocean, one reef at a time.
Hey there, scubaholics! Do you want to make a positive impact and take an active role in protecting Koh Tao's natural beauty? Mark your calendars for our upcoming dive Clean-up and join the global movement of scuba divers and ocean advocates.
Our next CLEAN-UP will occur on April 10, 2023, and is open to certified divers of all levels! This event aims to collect as much litter and debris from the Laem Thian dive site as possible. The piled waste will then be disposed of responsibly, with the majority being recycled or reused.
Not only will the event help to improve the environmental health of Laem Thian, but it will also raise awareness about the importance of preserving the underwater ecosystem.
Gather your dive buddies and get ready to impact Koh Tao's underwater environment positively, and don't worry if you don't have dive equipment. Let's dive against the debris and make a difference altogether! We will provide you with everything you need.
Laem Thian dive site: A Haven for Marine Life in Koh Tao
Liam Thian Dive site in Koh Tao is a must-visit destination for scuba divers and snorkelers. This stunning spot is known for its gorgeous coral reefs and stunning underwater landscape. It features a swim-through tunnel, a shallow coral garden, and a steep drop-off where divers can spot a fishtastic variety of marine life, such as schools of barracuda, colorful parrotfish, angelfish, moray eels, and nudibranchs. You may even spot a sea turtle or two swimming lazily along the reef!
Leam Thian is located on the East Cost of Koh Tao, near Shark Island and Aow Leuk dive sites. This spot is worth adding to your diving bucket list!
Unfortunately, like many other dive sites, Laem Thian is also at risk of pollution and littering. At Coral Grand Divers, we have decided to adopt Laem Thian as a Koh Tao dive site and have committed to regularly cleaning it up to keep it healthy and thriving and protect the marine life that calls Laem Thian home!
The dive clean-up event: Let's give back to the underwater world, our love!
Partnered with PADI Project AWARE, a global movement of scuba divers and ocean advocates, this event aims to remove harmful ocean debris, including plastics and other non-biodegradable materials. Our mission is to clean up the dive site and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life. It's also an excellent opportunity to meet other like-minded divers and learn about environmentally responsible diving practices!
Why dive clean-ups matter?
Dive Clean-ups play a critical role in protecting the ocean ecosystem. They help reduce pollution levels and safeguard marine life. Additionally, they promote responsible diving practices and raise awareness about the impact of littering on the ocean. By participating in these events, scuba divers help preserve the underwater world for future generations.
The benefits of responsible diving
As divers, we are responsible for protecting the underwater world we love.
By practicing responsible diving practices, such as avoiding touching or damaging coral, using biodegradable products, and minimizing our environmental impact, we can help preserve the ocean and its inhabitants. Supporting initiatives such as dive clean-up events is crucial to protecting the sea and promoting responsible diving practices.
Contact us anytime if you want to participate in one of our Dive Clean-up events. Let's dive against the debris together and protect what we love, one reef at a time!
