Welcome to Shark Island, a fantastic spot that totally lives up to its awesome name! This uninhabitable granite islet, formed from massive boulders rising over 10 meters above the water and plunging down to 15 meters below, totally looks like the dorsal fin of a shark when viewed from above! As you descend, those boulders gradually give way to sandy stretches between 15 and 18 meters, with additional scattered rocks beyond the main dive site, taking you down to 26-28 meters on the southeast end.
Probably the most diverse spot around!
What sets Shark Island dive site apart, especially on favorable days, is its breathtaking array of colors. The presence of vibrant purple Soft tree Corals, Gorgonian fans, Hard corals, Whip corals, Barrel Sponges, Sea Anemones, Table corals and intricate Brain Corals thoughtfully interspersed across the dominant boulders transforms it into a visual masterpiece!
But that's not all
Periodic currents usher in nutrient-rich waters, fostering a vibrant and diverse ecosystem. You'll come across an array of marine life, including groupers, sleek batfish seeking refuge from Trevally, lively schools of butterflyfish, chevron barracudas as well as sightings like Scribbled Filefish, pufferfish, and Crocodile Needlefish. And you may have the chance to encounter Hawksbill and Green turtles !
Along the eastern side, you'll stumble upon "Sea bunny"Jorunna nudibranch nurseries, adding yet another layer of awesomeness to the already fascinating marine diversity of Shark Island.
Keep your eyes peeled as you investigate the nooks and crannies, where Harlequin Sweetlips find shelter in the shadows of larger boulders. There, you may also spot yellow boxfish, White-eyed moral eels, and blue-spotted stingrays.
Adding an element of excitement to each dive, Titan triggerfish may make an appearance, and they can be quite protective of their territories. And if luck is on your side, you may have the chance to encounter whale sharks and other pelagic.

The maximum depth at this site reaches 26 meters, but there's something fascinating to see at nearly every level on good days. Oh, and Shark Island rocks! Just a heads up, though, there can be a decent current going on, so it's ideal for divers with a bit of experience, like intermediate divers and beyond.
