Koh Tao is one of the best places in the world for scuba diving, with warm waters, incredible marine life, and dive sites just minutes away. So it’s no surprise we often hear this question:
“How many dives can I do in one day on Koh Tao?”
Quick Answer:
Most Koh Tao diving days include 2 to 4 dives, and some divers even squeeze in a 5th dive at night. Technically, there’s no official limit, no one’s going to stop you at 3 or 6 dives. But the number of safe dives per day depends on your dive profile, nitrogen build-up, and how well you manage your surface intervals.
Some divers on liveaboards or doing pro-level training even log 5-7 dives in a single day - but that takes proper planning, experience, and in many cases… Nitrox (more on that below).
What Really Limits Daily Dive Count?
Whether you’re diving in Koh Tao or anywhere else, your body absorbs nitrogen from your breathing gas while underwater. The more dives you do, the more nitrogen builds up - and the longer your surface intervals need to be to stay within your no-decompression limits (NDL).
Factors that impact your dive day:
-
Dive depth
-
Dive time
-
Surface interval between dives
-
How many dives you’ve already done that day
-
Nitrogen levels from previous days
-
Environmental factors (current, water temp, fatigue)
💡Always use a dive computer and plan conservatively, especially when diving multiple times a day in Koh Tao’s tropical conditions.
Want to Dive More? Try Nitrox on Koh Tao
If you're looking to increase your dive count or maximize bottom time, Nitrox diving in Koh Tao is your best friend.
What is Nitrox?
Also known as EAN, EANx, or Enriched Air Nitrox, it’s a gas blend with more oxygen and less nitrogen than regular air (which is ~21% oxygen). Most Nitrox blends are 32% or 36% oxygen. which means:
Less nitrogen =
Longer no-deco limits =
Shorter surface intervals =
More dives in a day on Koh Tao!
Why Choose Nitrox for Koh Tao Diving?
-
Extend your dive time
-
Shorten your surface intervals
-
Reduce fatigue after multiple dives
-
Lower your risk of decompression sickness
-
